Boards and Committees

At the virtual Synagogue, we pride ourselves on community involvement.  We hope that you will find a committee that interests you, and become an active participant in it.  Our board oversees the Virtual Synagogue on a macro level, while our committees run most of our day-to-day programming.

D'var Torah from our last board meeting
We invite you to read the D'var Torah delivered by our Rabbi at the last board meeting.  This D'var Torah is updated following each meeting.

What should I be noticing?
On every page, we will point out the Tools 4 Shuls modules in use, and include links to the administration pages, so that you will be able to test it out.  Just look for this box near the bottom of any page! Log into the administration panel to see how easy it is to update this site!  Username and password are both "demo"

Calendar
The "Upcoming Meetings" section of this page is drawing the next 5 events from the "Boards and Committees" category of the calendar.  Since descriptions are less important on this page, we are listing more events than we normally do, and not showing the description.

Announcements (x2)
Believe it or not, we're using the Announcements module twice on this page!  You can see it in the standard "announcements" box on the left, where it is showing only the announcements for the board and committees category.  We are also using it to display the "dvar torah" above.  It's a very convenient way to post text to a page that needs to be updated often.  We can even input d'var torahs for the entire year and schedule each one to display at a specific time.

Archive
The list of past D'var Torahs is coming from the archive.  Each week, after the current d'var torah is no longer valid, someone in our organization puts it in a word document and posts it to the archive under the "dvar torah" category.  It's that simple!
